HELLO: MY NAME IS … Blog Hop

Welcome to my first HOP of the year! Fittingly, it’s an introduction to authors you may or may not know (or may THINK you know!). Follow the HOP links to uncover fun and sometimes surprising facts about authors who write the books you love, and get in on some great giveaways.

Getting to know Nancy Gideon: (Here’s me in the wild at the Great Lakes Book Bash in October, 2015)

1. Night owl or early bird?

The birds use ME as their alarm clock. 5:00 a.m. at the Keurig then at the keyboard. Every day. A late night for me begins at 9:30 p.m. Yeah, a real party animal!

2. What music are you rocking to?

Whatever suits the characters in my latest WIP. I enjoy music almost as much as I love words. All kinds! Imagine the surprise when Rob Zombie blasts out of my car and the driver in the next lane glances over to see a gramma head banging! I always do a playlist for each new book so my current passion could be anything from German heavy metal to Sean Paul to ‘50s classics.

3. Your first kiss . . . Was it the stuff of romance novels?

A hot neighbor boy from up the street (An older man in middle school! I was tall and mature for my age!) in his garage. While everyone was playing hide and seek, we were trying NOT to be found. My first sigh-worthy romantic experience! I borrowed the encounter for a scene in PRINCE OF SHADOWS.

4. What’s your work environment like? Ms. Clean or total Clutter?

Right now, its clutter squared! I just moved and am still unpacking. One doesn’t realize how many books they have until 2 out of 3 boxes are marked OFFICE. I’m both ADD and OCD, so I guess you could call it Controlled Chaos! A clean desk makes me nervous, like I’m not really working.

5. Gourmet cook or take out?

While I DO enjoy that left over cold pizza for breakfast, I LOVE to cook, and now that I have a kitchen two people can stand in at the same time without having to turn in the same direction to avoid a collision, I’m looking forward to stirring up some yummy stuff! Breakfast omelets with asparagus or feta cheese and spinach are my specialties.

6. Favorite type of hero - Type A bad boy or Type B good guy?

I’m a hardcore Bad Boy fan. Give me the Clive Owens, the Jeremy Renners, the Dean Winchesters, and keep the softer, gentler Jude Laws and Colin Firths. I’d take a thug over a pretty boy any day! I’d be a kick butt Lara Croft – if my knees were better. No. Make that Helen Mirren!

7. Website or Blog?

While the website is great for static information (and lots of it), I love my blog for its immediacy and flexibility. It’s the difference between the newspaper and a Facebook meme. One is solid content and one is pure fun. I belong to several blog groups for inspiration and writing encouragement, and have met some wonderful people through them, but Hops are my joy. I love mingling with readers and meeting authors who are new to me. And who doesn’t love free stuff? Herding Cats always comes up with the most creative Hops. With a name like that, how could they be boring?

8. When can we get your next book and what’s it all about?

I’m currently working on “The House of Terriot Foursome” a quartet of shorter length paranormals that tie into my “By Moonlight” shapeshifter series and feature the very hot and hunky Terriot princes introduced in my latest, UNLEASHED BY SHADOWS. I hope to release at LEAST the first two or three in 2016.

In anticipation of “The House of Terriot x 4,” I’m giving away an e-copy of REMEMBERED BY MOONLIGHT and a $10 Amazon gift card to introduce readers to my writing and to the “By Moonlight” world, since it brings that dangerous Terriot Shifter clan to New Orleans for the first time and sets up the drama to come. Here’s a glimpse ...

Because the road to . . .

Clever, cool and preternaturally lethal, Max Savoie is leader of a secretive shape-shifter clan, heir to a mobster’s legacy, and the love of New Orleans’ top cop . . . but he can’t remember any of them. The only way to recover his past, and his rightful place in the arms of the woman who risked all to save him, is to surrender to a mysterious visitor who could use him as a weapon against all he’d loved.

Happily-Ever-After . . .

After rescuing her mate from his ruthless captors in the North, hard-hitting Detective Charlotte Caissie is now painfully vulnerable—a stranger in his eyes . . . and in his bed. The key to his memories is locked in a tortuous past. To reclaim the strength of their passionate bond, Max must learn to trust her enough to face that darkness at her side before the threat it hides exposes the secret Cee Cee carries.

Is never smooth.

When an investigation into grisly deaths in an underground Shifter fight club points to more than just dangerous clan rivalries, Cee Cee enlists Max’s help to find a traitor in their midst while there’s still time to turn a deadly invading tide. But the cost of saving their treasured future may mean sacrificing his past. Especially when the enemy they pursue . . . might be Max, himself.

“Every delicious word Nancy Gideon puts on the page exhilarates with a sensuous ferocity. Hopelessly addicted.” — Darynda Jones, NY Times Bestselling Author

  7. Good question: When they were making KINGSMAN, just how bad-ass did they think Colin Firth could be? Helen Mirren does kick butt, though.
