WeWriWa: Write In-Write on / Release Day Cometh!

Nothing like a working writers’ weekend to get a new project AND a new book release off the ground and running! With PRINCE OF DREAMS, my final “House of Terriot” book debuting Tuesday, Oct. 2 across all platforms, it’s time to snuggle in with Max Savoie and start RISE BY MOONLIGHT! Hope to share from it soon.

Following up on last weekend’s snippet, our hero, the youngest Terriot prince who picked the worst possible time to find the girl of his dreams, tells her he’s looking for a reason to remain in New Orleans. She’d hoped SHE was the reason, but suspects his interest is sparked by another, less romantic purpose . . .

Phe should have known better, but she’d wanted to believe . . . what, that a dream like Kip Terriot would fall for her without knowing, oh, by the way, her dad was one of the richest and most connected men in Orleans County? He was just like the dozens before and probably after him, looking for a quick and easy in.

Keeping her focus on the rapidly cooling coffee, she told him evenly, “Nick is the one you need to talk to since he vets prospective employees for IT and communications for the private side of my dad’s business, and I assume that’s what you’re interested in.”

“The guy you were with tonight?”

“I offered to help him, too, and smart, like you, he took advantage of it.” And me, the son of a bitch. Though she should have been inured to it by this time, the pain and disappointment went as deep as her every expectation.

She looked up then, smile fixed, its falseness hidden by experience, to say, “I’ll have him call you and set up an interview.”

“You’ve got my number.”

Oh yes, she did, in spades.

Pre-Order!

Ace of Spades or Prince of Hearts? How can he choose between family loyalty and his heart’s desire?

While my tireless VA gets PoD ready to be read, I’m burning up the keyboard with these creative sparks (and a Keurig!) to fire my creative flame . . . I’m top right, the one in black with headphone hair. Chapter 1, you’re toast!

I have an office to finish closing, an interview AND a new job waiting first of the week, so pass the RumChata coffee pods! I have a book to write . . .

Happy Weekend, fellow Warriors!

WeWriWa: Just Give Me a Reason / PoD on Tour!

With PRINCE OF DREAMS just a week and a day from its October 2 release (hyperventilating!), I’m scrambling to get everything ready (Does that ever really happen?). In the meantime, I’m continuing with last week’s scene of budding hopeful (hopeless?) romance between my hero and heroine. He’s just confessed that his expected plan to return to his family home has changed, letting her believe she’s the reason. But is that the truth or just her now broken dream?

Before Phe could have a complete melt down, Kip added, “I need more than that because my family won’t just let me go. Right now, I’m the youngest in a long line, who happens to be good with numbers, and I don’t want to be labeled because of my family name and reputation.” He struck a nerve with her there. “I have to become more to earn their respect to prove I can make it on my own, and not just as one in a pack.” As her brows puckered at that odd phrase, he hurried on, “That’s where I hope you’ll help me.”

Caution bred from too many disappointments, Ophelia leaned back, pulling away from his earnest gaze to stare into the dark brew warming her hands as she asked, “Help you how?”

“I need a reason to stay in New Orleans while I explore other, more attractive options.”

As much as she longed to, Ophelia didn’t dare look up at him, knowing how easily he could sway her by showing just a bit more of that toothy smile when she asked, “And that reason would be?”

“You offered to help me find a job, that’d be a great first step, maybe something where we could see more of each other.”

Dammit!

Whoa! That’s some reaction! Next week’s snippet reveals her interpretation of his “grand plan” . . . and it’s not good. But then when has romance ever run smoothly?

Why wait? Pre-order. Consider it a pre-Halloween goodie with more cardio than calorie!

While waiting for PoD to go live, my characters continue their tour with goodies and giveaways galore in my PRINCE OF DREAMS SPOOKTACULAR TOUR, celebrating not only their story, but all the great things about the month of October. It’s Haunted Halloween Spooktacular Time!

Is that Pumpkin Spice I smell? Is the morning commute just a little bit nippier? Does that rustle of leaves warn of spooky times right around the corner? IT’S BAAAAACK! Bewitching Blog Tour’s Haunted Halloween Spooktacular is counting down to my favorite holiday with fun posts and great prizes and frightfully good reads!! Hop aboard my crazy train tour with destination October 31 . . . with an important stop for a new release on October 2!!

What’s Halloween without monsters? It’s a season made for paranormal rule. And my favorite – werewolves and shapeshifters!

Media treatment has changed since those first righteous villagers with torches. From “I Was a Teenage Werewolf” to Michael J. Fox in “Teen Wolf,” came a new shift to acceptance of that ‘different’ monster as still a man, or in this case, a swoon-worthy hot teen. Then, with “American Werewolf in London” we got not only horribly (cool!) realistic transformations but something even better – sly humor and a reluctant monster we rooted for even when he got his just desserts!

Romance took longer to give the brutish werewolf a break than it did the elegant vampire. Vampires were intelligent and beautiful if deadly, werewolves brutal and filled with snarling, uncontrolled rage. I started out with vampires in my “Touched by Midnight” series, loving the sleek, seductive otherworldliness of them. But then came Max Savoie, the dark, tortured Shifter antihero of my “By Moonlight” books, who didn’t know what he was or that there were others like him. Cool, smart, magnificent and HOT in the eyes of my NOPD heroine, readers watched him evolve from the shadows to a figure of power and influence. As those books branched off into my current “House of Terriot” series, the shapeshifter legacy transformed into warring clans and star-crossed couples, of which PRINCE OF DREAMS (now available for preorder!) is the final before a triumphant return to Max in 2019.

IT WAS WRITTEN IN THE CARDS . . .

Kip . . . Prince in the shapeshifter House of Terriot

He'd said he wasn't a mobster. . . She should have asked if he was a monster.

Who was this too good to be true, always ready in a crisis guy working a menial job for her father? Ophelia knew things. Something was not quite normal about the Kip Terriot hiding behind another name in lace-up dress shoes and a preppy wardrobe – something wild and exciting as all hell. A dangerous something calling to that restless difference in her own soul.

Ophelia . . . daughter of his enemy, girl of his dreams

So sassy, so sweet so perfect . . . and what he had to do would destroy her.

Kip was in New Orleans to save his clan and his kind, not to play white knight for Ophelia Brady with her quirky habits, curvy body and tormented past. His deception would rip the heart from her world, not help heal it. Was his family’s nemesis using his own daughter to make Kip the played instead of the player, pulling him between love and duty to make an impossible choice?

“Emotionally captivating! A brilliant conclusion to a unique series!” – Book Bling

In the paranormal romance world, heroic qualities change the monster into a male worthy of admiration . . . and love. As my tag line goes: “Deadly, dangerous and delicious!” Nothing is more romantic than the beauty who tames her beast!

What’s Halloween-time without goodies?? Check out all these fab prizes available as my author friends and I celebrate the season with Spooktacular hops!

WeWriWa: Appearances Can Be Deceiving . . . So Can Our Heroes

Is Kip Terriot trouble Ophelia Brady doesn’t need? Sure, her rescuer is cute and charming, but what is he hiding? Once bitten by silky lines from too many insincere guys, twice shy Phe knows ‘too good to be true’ probably is just that. Could this one be different?

“Are you a mobster?”

With their conversation treading on delicate ground, our hero tries to tiptoe around pointed questions the heroine poses with all the skill of her police commissioner father as she tries to peel away the mysteries surrounding him and his family. It’s not like he can just come out and tell her the truth – that he’s not in any way, shape or unnatural form what he seems to be . . .

“We like our privacy, so I see to that, too.”

Her suspicions weren’t calmed. “So, why are you here?”

“My family’s thinking of expanding in a partnership of sorts and I’m checking on the viability.”

“Then you’ll go back home.”

His steady stare never wavered from hers as he admitted, “I don’t think that’s my plan anymore.”

Her hopes fluttered wildly before she could catch them. “What’s here that you want?”

A grin. “One thing comes to mind.”

So, is that good news for our heroine or a run like hell warning? Her PRINCE OF DREAMS just might become her nightmare if she’s not careful.

WeWriWa: Woo Hoo! It’s PRINCE OF DREAMS Pre-Order Time!

Sorry to be MIA last week but I was sooooo busy paddling under the surface to get ready for today’s post and ANNOUNCEMENT! PRINCE OF DREAMS, the final book in my “House of Terriot” dark shapeshifter series is available for pre-order on Amazon (and soon other venues!)!! It seems like this moment was forever in the making but now, it’s finally here!

And speaking of things under the surface, today’s excerpt from PoD is a moment of truth for my hero and heroine, a time for answers to those sticky questions . . . and hers is a doozy!

“Are you a mobster?”

With a booming laugh that trickled down to a lopsided smile, Kip asked, “Is that what you think, a mobster befriending the daughter of a police commissioner?” At Ophelia’s blink of surprise, he scoffed, “It’s not like no one in New Orleans knows you.”

Not rising to her own defense, she got back to her original question, arguing, “It would explain the money, the flash, the disappearances, the secrecy.”

“Yeah, it would, but it doesn’t. We’ve got money, lots of it that my brothers earn in Reno and Las Vegas through our casinos and hotels. We earn it honestly, and I invest it for them, all above board.”

“Then why hasn’t anyone ever heard of you?” Okay, she’d done some subtle checking. Nada.

Can’t wait for next week to see what he has the say to that!

In the meantime, here’s a look at the full package, blurb, and buy link for my upcoming release, PRINCE OF DREAMS . . .

September has wrought some great or scary stuff. The law office I adore working for is closing its doors at the end of the month. My boss will either retire or take a fabulous job. That leaves me either unemployed or going with him on an exciting new venture – with full benefits! Cross you fingers for me. It’s going to be a suspenseful few weeks . . .

Inhaling! Exhaling . . . off to visit your snippets to keep my mind off things in the best possible way. Happy fall, y’all!
