My shapeshifter PRINCE OF DREAMS sinks his teeth into the dark paranormal world with the release of my 69th title (not counting all those reprints!)! And he is a dream come true.
Perhaps not for my heroine, at the moment. We left them simmering at the Café du Monde in New Orleans, ready to explore their relationship when he kills the mood by suggesting they’ll have more time for one another if she helps him find a job in her city. For Phe, who has been taken in by one too many gold diggers looking for the means to latch onto her wealthy and powerful father, these aren’t the words she’d longed to hear. But stoically she agrees to make the introduction. We pick them up as he’s dropping her off at her palatial Garden District home – parking on the dark street instead of pulling up to the door.
“I’m glad you called.”
Phe could almost believe he meant that.
His fingertips grazed her chin, and before she could react, Kip closed the space between them to kiss her, a quick touch making her gasp, followed by a slow slant that had her holding her breath, her eyes squeezed tight to deny tears. If he noticed how stiffly she held herself, he didn’t let it matter, parting her slack lips with the slide of his tongue, provoking hers into a bit of reacquainting urgency before she braced palms against his chest to leverage distance.
“No,” in a quiet, rational tone, she told him, “It’s better if we’re just friends, since you wouldn’t want my father to think you’d sleep your way into a job. He’d boot you all the way back to Nevada. Just friends is better for both of us.”
A long silence then he had the nerve to ask, “Is that what you think?”
“Pull up to the gate, they’ll let you drive to the door.”
Without comment, he settled back behind the wheel and u-turned into the drive, following it to the covered entrance where a suited guard with a tell-tale bulge under his arm opened the door for her so she could get out without a word or a backward glance.
Whaaat? Just friends? But then where have we heard that before only to have things heat up in a hurry? I guess we’ll have to wait and see how much restraint these two can manage when under the same roof.
Kip . . . Prince in the shapeshifter House of Terriot
He'd said he wasn't a mobster. . . She should have asked if he was a monster.
Who was this too good to be true, always ready in a crisis guy working a menial job for her father? Ophelia knew things. Something was not quite normal about the Kip Terriot hiding behind another name in lace-up dress shoes and a preppy wardrobe – something wild and exciting as all hell. A dangerous something calling to that restless difference in her own soul.
Ophelia . . . daughter of his enemy, girl of his dreams
So sassy, so sweet so perfect . . . and what he had to do would destroy her.
Kip was in New Orleans to save his clan and his kind, not to play white knight for Ophelia Brady with her quirky habits, curvy body and tormented past. His deception would rip the heart from her world, not help heal it. Was his family’s nemesis using his own daughter to make Kip the played instead of the player, pulling him between love and duty to make an impossible choice?
“Emotionally captivating! A brilliant conclusion to a unique series!” – Book Bling

I don't think many of your readers will expect 'just friends' to remain intact for the duration of the book. I know I don't.
