As I’ve often said, you can’t keep an undead hero (or heroine!) down. That’s particularly true of Nicole LaValois in MIDNIGHT TEMPTATION, an innocent miss whose strange proclivities are explained when she discovers a devastating family secret she flees in denial. Alone and innocent in dangerous post Revolution France, she’s taken in by a bohemian group of friends, placing them all in unexpected danger from the threat that stalks her and the truth tormenting her. Take a taste . . .
Lying beside him, longing for his closeness as much as she feared it, Nicole remained awake until the early dawn hours, listening to the sounds of her companions’ slumber and to the night music of the city beyond. She found it difficult to sleep, her system attuned to those dark hours where energy pulsed in the Paris streets. The cool breeze beckoned to instincts she didn’t understand. She lay next to Marchand, watching over him, not daring to touch him, her desire for him growing as severe as the constant hunger threading through her veins.
What had begun to attract her appetite was not served upon a plate. It throbbed, a rich and forbidden temptation, through those around her.
As she lay there at night remembering the taste of Marchand’s blood, that secret contemplation horrified and fascinated. She could feel his heart beating even though they weren’t touching, could hear it sending those rivers of delight through his body with every soft thrum. The taste . . . ambrosia, whetting a desire like none she’d known.
The desire . . . for more.
Hunt or be hunted . . . A centuries old obsession stalks a noble family fighting to hide their dark secret from an ever-changing world. Sink your teeth into Nancy Gideon's Touched by Midnight series.
A Wicked Legacy . . .
Terrified by her unusual strength and frightening urges, Nicole Radouix’s sheltered country life is shattered when she discovers her family’s secret— she’s the daughter of a mortal mother and vampire father. Stricken, she flees to the seductive lure of the city to discover the truth about who and what she is. But the turmoil of post-revolution Paris is no place for an innocent.
A Wild Desire . . .
Finding herself under the protection of noble ex-patriot Marchand La Valois, Nicole is pulled into deadly underworld struggles, both political and vampiric. As their passions ignite, Marchand soon realizes the lovely Nicole is more predator than prey and may be more of a threat than the unruly streets outside.
An Unthinkable Dilemma . . .
Desperate to control her dark desires, Nicole accepts an offer of guidance from a hypnotic enemy, ensnaring both her and Marchand in a dangerous web of centuries’ old revenge. To escape their deadly nighttime games, Nicole must embrace her immortality. But will it cost her Marchand’s eternal love?

The snippet was great, very tasty . . . but I keep coming back to the intro. Could you please give an example of the many times you've had occasion to say "you can’t keep an undead hero (or heroine!) down"?
ReplyDeleteLOL, Ed! This vampire series has come back from the 'dead' three times, with three different publishers! I'd count that as notable resuscitation - of my income, at least.
DeleteI don't think she's going to be able to resist the temptation for too much longer. Great snippet!
ReplyDeleteAhhhhhh, probably not. Thanks, Jessica!
DeleteWell she's fighting the good fight certainly, but I can see the temptation is going to overwhelm her soon enough. I loved the snippet, really well done in showing her struggles.
ReplyDeleteThank you!! I just love conflict, don't you?
DeletePanting here. Seriously hot, my friend and frightening.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Charmaine. Didn't mean to get you overheated!
DeleteHow is her wanting to taste his blood so damn hot? Sheesh! You certainly have a magical way with words, Nancy. Beautifully written!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Julie!! That's a fab compliment!
DeleteHow can she resist? :) Loved the snippet.
ReplyDeleteShe's doomed. Thanks, Karen!
DeleteVery hot and wicked. Her attraction to him is so sensual I just had to go download it to my Kindle Fire!
ReplyDeleteThanks for letting me burn up your Fire!!
DeleteAwesome snippet. I don't think she'll be able to resist much longer before she... Umm... Takes matters into hr own hands?.
ReplyDeleteOr teeth . . . Thanks, Christiane!
DeleteWow, this sounds like such an interesting story. Great snippet, too!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Christina!
DeleteI've always admired the way you create atmosphere--your word choices pulled me in and make me feel so much. Great snippet. So glad this story gets a 3rd chance.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Di, for letting me pull you into the "dark" side!
DeleteLove the conflict in this scene! :D
ReplyDeleteThank you, Amy!
DeleteOh, she's tempted. You placed me right in the scene.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Elaine!
DeleteI have to admit vampires aren't normally my favourite protagonists - but this might prove the exception. What a tantalising, sensual snippet, and I love that you've set it shortly after the French Revolution. Lyer upon layer of conflict, love it! (And I love Le Miz too, loved the book before the musical was heard of but adore the music too.)
ReplyDeleteHappy to turn you to the "dark" side! Loved doing the research on this one.
DeleteVampire hunger seems like it must be worse than human hunger. Humans can starve themselves to death on purpose, after all. Seems like she needs to figure out a safe way to appease her hunger, and soon!
ReplyDeleteThey'll figure it out . . . with help from an unlikely source . . .
DeleteUh oh....
ReplyDeleteI really liked her inner thoughts and how 'connected' she already was to Marchand. Just a taste, eh?
Uh Huh. A plan doomed to failure.
