WeWriWa: Every Picture Tell a Story . . . This One Unbelievable. MIDNIGHT MASQUERADE

Just got back from a fabulous writers weekend (which was why I was MIA last Sunday). Nothing like a room filled with authors both multi-published and still working toward that first sale to get the adrenaline and ideas flowing. So many creative choices mentally circling for a landing . . . but for now, here’s the next in line in my “Touched By Midnight” vampire romance series to get the heart pumping . . .

Midnight Masquerade (Touched by Midnight - Book 8)

Published: May 4, 2011
Length: 234 Pages

Can they escape the shadows of the past?

This time, he could lose his soul . . .
An invitation to join an exclusive D.C. law firm seems like a chance for Nick Flynn to leave his mistakes behind. But it's his shadowy past and unrealized inheritance that attracted his mysterious employers. Once embroiled in their dark schemes, his struggle for success becomes a battle for his salvation.

And she could lose her life . . .
Loner detective Rae Borden goes undercover as a call girl to discover the truth about her best friend's death. Her carefully laid plan of revenge and personal redemption becomes a crusade against an unbelievable evil . . . with Nick Flynn in the middle.

 The Excerpt

“There’s something wrong at the Noir, with those women, with Anna Murray. It’ll sound crazy.”

“Try me.”

“In that tape of the four of us, Anna Murray is missing as in doesn’t photograph.”

“Not in photos, not in mirrors, not so strange at all . . . considering.”

Nick leaned back and studied her features warily. “Considering what?”

“What she is, what most of the other women at the Noir are.”

“Unnatural.”

( . . . and a bite more . . .)

The explanation came to him with a sudden clarity. “That’s it, isn’t it? What are they?”

“Vampires.”

His hands fell away from her. For a moment, he could only stare, then he issued a soft laugh and a wry, “I picked a hell of a time to stop drinking.”

“Sit down, Nick, and I’ll make coffee.”
The MIDNIGHT books were special because they were set in places where I’d gone for writers’ conferences and used the occasions to research. The memory of the escalator in D.C. leading down to the subway trains features on the cover will also bring a chill.
